SKY, BBC & ITV IN MADRID

What you need to know about installation of Sky and Freesat.
In our Madrid installation area, we can supply and fit everything you need to get your chosen package. Dishes are mounted either on a convenient wall or in your garden. Sometimes a roof is used, but rarely in the case of 1.8 metre dLarge 1.8m dish and Sky minidishishes. There has to be a clear view to the south- east ( we can verify this on a site survey ). Cables can be buried underground in conduit or clipped neatly to a wall. The satellite is 33 degrees above the horizon, so the montage of TV screensview from the dish has to be clear of neighbouring houses and trees.
Many houses in Spain already have a 60cm dish on the roof to receive Spanish TV from Astra 1. This can be re-pointed to Astra 2 if it is accessible, enabling you to watch the SKY range of channnels. In Madrid, this size dish will not get the main BBC channels, but it will get one - third of Sky's channels. BBC NEWS, BBC RADIO, FIVE, FIVE•, FIVE US, CHANNEL FOUR HD, some Sky Movies, some Sky Sports and a number of entertainment and HD channels are receivable here on a small 60 cm dish. A special configuration by an engineer is required. As Sky+HD is now standard, all new installations will have two cables from the dish to the receiver.
Dish installation prices
Prices start from 90 euros to re-point an existing dish, to 800 euros for a Union Jack sky remote1.2 metre dish, up to 1500 euros for a 1.8 metre. We only fit the best quality components.

The LNB (low noise block- the device at the end of the dish arms) is a state-of-the art Invacom/ChannelMaster combination, proven in tests to have superior gain in difficult conditions. The dishes are high- gain American- made, fibreglass-based antennas. They are virtually indestructible (unlike steel and aluminium dishes), will last many years, and have a resale value secondhand.
Receivers
Sky and Freesat receivers can be delivered to your home within 3 -21 days, depending on whether a subscription to Sky is required. There is no additional annual fee applied to our Sky subscriptions, the best value Sky viewing in Spain. Freesat (as its name implies) is free to view on all channels. Freesat boxes can be supplied more quickly than Sky receivers.

ModelsSky HD receiver
Sky+HD is now our standard receiver. There are two models of Humax Foxsat HD Freesat receiver, standard and the Freesat+HDR, which has a hard drive. Sky+HD and Freesat HD use HDMI to make the most of your flat-panel LCD or plasma display. Standard definition channels are up-scaled to HD, meaning they will look better than on a standard definition receiver. All have optical outputs to reproduce Dolby Digital surround sound 5.1 via your AV sound system. Surround sound is carried on BBC HD, Sky HD channels and selected Sky Movies. Freesat uses a distinctive 7 -day programme guide with HD graphics. With fewer channels, it is easy to navigate. The Freesat HDR can also be used with a diseqc switch to view other satellites from other countries in 'Non-Freesat' mode. It also allows photos and mp3 files to be copied onto its hard drive. Our Freesat receivers have the most sensitive tuners of any satellite receiver, enabling them to receive BBC channels more reliably. If you have any questions, please e-mail us.

Freesat
Freesat serves the United Kingdom and near continent. Freesat is receivable in Madrid on a large dish. A 1.8 metre is best. All Freesat channels are free to airFreesat logo  and can be viewed without a decoder or viewing card. The signals are mostly on the UK spot beam (see the useful information page).
Free To Air (FTA)
A free to air (FTA) receiver, commonly sold in supermarkets and DIY centres in Spain, will receive free channels but will not have the Freesat guide, nor receive automatic updates like Sky and Freesat receivers. They are difficult to use, have only 'now and next' programme information, and are not recommended. They are sometimes wrongly advertised as 'Freesat'. Genuine Freesat receivers have the Freesat logo printed on the front.
